Country House

COUNTRY HOUSE – 2019
120 sqm house
Approx. budget £190K

Simplicity and calm – these two words described our task received when starting a project for a new Build house away from the city.

Our client was expecting to get the impression of a modern and open space full of light, serving for a weekend break from the London. We decided to design the house as simple as possible, limiting the colour palette to off-white, natural oak with a small amount of matte black just to emphasize the bespoke forms of the table and the fireplace frame.

We also managed to find used Cassina armchairs, designed by Dutch designer Gerrit Rietveld, at an online auction and decided to reupholster them in a fabric with a pink herringbone pattern, obtaining a colour counterpoint complementing the whole interior.

The relatively small space of the interior has been divided into a kitchen with a dining room with and a living room with a compact bookcase suspended on the wall. Thanks to the use of bright polished terrazzo tiles, it was possible to achieve the impression of spaciousness and lightness.
