Hackney House

HACKNEY HOUSE – 2018
152 sqm house
Approx. budget £150K

This extraordinary project in the very centre of Hackney could have been created thanks to the trust that our customers have placed in us from the very beginning. We received the task of renovating the existing house, taking into account the new division of rooms and changing the character of the existing interior to be very simple and minimalist.

We decided to use contrasting materials – maple plywood and black oxidized steel in the form of crittall wall/doors, against the background of snow-white walls and ceilings. To further emphasize the industrial character of the interior, we used classic finned tube radiators and a special vinyl floor.

Demolishing the walls on the first floor allowed us to open a part of the ceiling above the dining room and obtain the effect of expanding the space. We also decided to hang the knotted hammock net above the dining room, which serves as a relaxation zone.

The maple plywood kitchen designed and made by us also partially functions as a bookcase and at the same time is a wall separating the staircase from the dining room. Thanks to this, we saved space and achieved the assumed effect in which the bookcase becomes a part of the dining room, covering the staircase.
