LEWISHAM APARTMENT – 2017
61sqm apartment
Approx. budget £55K

One of the most interesting and at the same time demanding projects are those created for the closest friends. The most interesting – because such close contact with the client allows for a very precise understanding of the client’s needs and translating these needs into the project. Demanding because you have to reach the heights of creativity, we don’t want to disappoint our friends’ expectations, do we?

Our assistance in this project began at the stage of confirming the apartment selection. Is this the right choice? Will it be possible to remodel the attic and thus enlarge the living room area? Will it be possible to complete all the works on time and on the assumption that the budget has been decided before starting the renovation works? Fortunately, in this case, the project ran unbelievably smooth, the cooperation turned out to be pure pleasure and the final effect met all customer expectations.

The most important decision was to open the attic space and create a mezzanine in this place and demolish the walls between the kitchen and the living room, which allowed to completely change the character of the interior. Thanks to the use of additional roof windows, we illuminated the interior of the living room and kitchen, giving the impression of a much larger space than it is.

The kitchen design assumed the setting of an island separating the living room space and the use of natural light from a small window to create a micro pantry in which most food products could be stored. The built-in wardrobes in the hall became a natural extension of the kitchen, constituting one coherent element. We decided to keep the existing floorboards, which saved quite a significant sum and allowed us to obtain the desired visual effect.

Thanks to budget savings, it was possible to completely rebuild the
bathroom using waterproof Microcement as a wall finish and bespoke made bathroom furniture which were painted on the spot, creating a unique and atmospheric interior. The use of several such non-standard elements – such as creating a lamp in the bathroom from a surfboard or, for example, the use of a ship’s rope as a mezzanine barrier, allowed us to stay within the assumed budget without having to resort to boring and used interior elements everywhere.

The satisfaction of our friends is a signal for us that we have
achieved both goals.
