Marbella Restaurant

MARBELLA RESTAURANT – 2016
100sqm restaurant
Approx. budget £100K

Considering the location, we couldn’t have imagined a better project to be done during the hot summer of 2016. We divided the time spent on the restaurant project in Marbella into drawing and discovering local cafes and restaurants, which allowed us to design a place that in our opinion was slightly lacking in this beautiful city. This time we were able to approach the project comprehensively, which was supported by the fact that our friend was one of the investors.

We started with finding the right formula for the whole thing, including finding a place, working out the menu and wine cards together (we would like to remember that), coming up with a name, logo and help in developing marketing.

The project was intended to serve as a cafe during the day and a restaurant open in the evening. We focused on the local community, unlike most restaurants focused on tourists. Taking into account the budget, we were able to propose a solution that was aimed at minimizing the costs associated with the equipment, ecological use of materials and obtaining the effect of apparent negligence.

A bit of a hipster atmosphere straight from Shoreditch. This approach, in turn, allowed to focus on what is most important in the cafe and restaurant – quality and taste. This was what sushi master took care of, achieving an amazing effect of combining Japanese cuisine served in the form of Tapas.

The rest was simple – we just had to find used equipment and furniture at online auctions to give the interior a vintage feel. We discovered several layers of drywall assembled by previous owners, and to our surprise, we discovered that the walls are made of the brick we wanted.

The idea for finishing some of the walls was to use black painted corrugated steel, found after several days of searching for scrap yards in Malaga. It also turned out that the ceilings are lowered only to hide the installation, so without much thought, we decided to remove them, thanks to which we obtained rooms over 5 m high.

The whole project was completed with a concrete floor, beautiful green industrial lamps found on several auction sites and the amazing taste of coffee brewed by our friend – Marco.
