Oxford House

OXFORD HOUSE – 2018
220 sqm house
Approx. budget £510K

One of the best-designed buildings which we have had the opportunity to design was a house located in a quiet and incredibly charming part of Oxford. Working on the project turned out to be an enormous pleasure as the client gave us his full trust, and allowed us to personally decide about almost every selected detail.

The received task was clear – to create a visually coherent interior matching the modern architecture of the building shell using the minimum amount of materials and colours. The other exercise was to design the ground floor space in a way that allows free communication between the household members when preparing meals and spending free time, while only delicately emphasizing the visual division of rooms using bespoke designed bookshelf.

It was also our first customer who decided to utilise the new design of a suspended kitchen made of laminated plywood, which is one of the most aesthetic and durable materials we use for the production of kitchen furniture. When choosing free-standing furniture, we decided to combine the light French design of La Chance with the timeless classic of Vitra and the beloved string lamps from Flos.

By giving the uniform colour to the whole house and emphasizing only the nobility of the material used – in this case, architectural concrete, we managed to achieve a coherent overall effect.
